Severence has delivered over 40 new disruptive technologies and or implemented Systems of Intelligence resulting in over $1.8B in net present value to customers and an estimated $8B ROI over the next five years. Prior to taking the leadership role at DeLorean AI, Severence served as Chief of Intelligence for Capgemini Invent, Western Hemisphere. Before his time at Capgemini, Dr. MacLaughlin was the Global Head of Artificial Intelligence & Data Sciences for Healthcare & Life Sciences and Head, Artificial Intelligence Learning Institute (AILI) and Cognizant Academy of Data Sciences (CADS) at Cognizant Technology Solutions.
Severence earned a BS (Magna Cum Laude, Honors & Distinction in Research) at Cornell University, a Doctorate Degree (Honors, Top 1%) from the University of Adelaide and a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of South Australia, where he taught medical, dental and nursing curricula. Severence has authored over 20 international scientific papers and given invited lectures and conference papers at academic institutions as well as international scientific events. Severence is personally interested in equine, bovine and ovine genetics and breeding as well as being an accomplished equestrian and amateur polo player.
Consultant UGI & Bariatric Surgeon
I am a Consultant UGI & Bariatric Surgeon as well as a Honorary Research Fellow at Imperial College London. My surgical and endoscopic experience includes performing over 1900 surgeries, comprising more than 250 cholecystectomies, 80 Roux-en-Y gastric bypass operations. My clinical expertise includes General, Bariatric and Upper Gastrointestinal surgical procedures, both laparoscopic and endoscopic techniques, as well as initial training in robotic surgery.
During my training, I earned the highest score amongst my peers from the London and South of England Deaneries in the final assessment of the London Postgraduate School of Surgery, both in UGI Surgery and overall.
My commitment to education is reflected in my regular lectures and tutorials in Gastrointestinal Physiology and Anatomy at Imperial College and teaching Bariatric Surgery at Semmelweis University. I have organised 9 postgraduate surgical courses, 7 conferences, and 4 teaching programmes, my largest surgical skills course attracted over 550 participants from 20 countries. In addition, I have established an educational channel with a significant social media following and I lead the Medex Podcast for MRCS preparation.
Chief, Robotic Surgery, Temple University Hospital
Dr. Eun is a Professor of Urology at Temple University School of Medicine, Chief of Robotic Surgery and Director of Minimally Invasive Robotic Urologic Oncology & Reconstruction at Temple University Hospital. He is the Surgical Director of Temple Hospital’s Bloodless Care Program and also serves as Director of Temple’s Robotics Training Center and Temple’s Advanced Robotic Urologic Surgery Fellowship Training Program. A diplomate of the American Board of Urology, he earned his BS from Pennsylvania State University, MD from Temple University School of Medicine, and completed a general surgery internship at Pennsylvania Hospital.
Dr. Eun also completed a urology residency and an 18-month minimally invasive urologic robotic oncology fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital’s Vattikuti Urology Institute in Detroit. He trained under Dr. Mani Menon, who is regarded as the “father of robotic prostatectomy,” originally earning the title in the early 2000s when robotics in urology was being pioneered and developed at the Vattikuti Urology Institute. Dr. Eun has performed approximately 4000 robotic procedures and is an internationally recognized thought leader in advanced robotic surgery techniques, procedure development and training. He runs a regional high volume referral practice for robotic removal of complex tumors and cancers of the prostate, bladder, kidney, ureter, testis and adrenal gland, as well as complex minimally invasive robotic reconstruction of the kidney, ureter and bladder. Dr. Eun has performed more types of urological robotic procedures (over 50) than anyone in the world, many which he has developed personally. As a result of Dr. Eun’s work, Temple University Hospital has earned “Robotic Urology Epicenter” status, a prestigious designation awarded only to a few centers of excellence in the world. This program establishes Temple Hospital as a destination center which trains surgical teams worldwide who want to come and learn our techniques.

Hutan Ashrafian is Chief Scientific Officer of Flagship Pioneering’s Preemptive Medicine and Health Security Initiative. In this role, he is pioneering a portfolio of novel therapeutics and approaches to protect, maintain, or improve people’s health before they get sick
Hutan is a senior clinician-scientist and surgeon with extensive experience developing novel biomedical and technological methods to address a wide range of healthcare issues. His research has focused on developing innovative and technological strategies to resolve the global healthcare burden of obesity, metabolic syndrome, obesity-related cardiorespiratory disease, musculoskeletal dysfunction, and cancer. He has extensive experience applying AI to medicine. He developed an algorithm with Google to detect breast cancer in screening images and led the translation of this work into clinical practice. He also spearheaded the international STARD-AI and QUADAS-AI global reporting guideline initiatives for diagnostic AI. In collaboration with NICE, he is setting the AI health technology assessment (HTA) benchmarks, and he is co-editor-in-chief of Springer Nature’s comprehensive reference text of AI in Medicine.

Dr. Maher El Chaar is a bariatric and robotic surgeon who specializes in Bariatric Surgery and gastrointestinal disorders and hernia surgery. Dr. El Chaar is the fellowship director of Bariatric surgery at St Luke's University Hospital in Pennsylvania.
Dr. El Chaar graduated from American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Maher El Chaar, MD is a General Surgeon in Allentown, PA and has 23 years experience. Dr. El Chaar currently practices at St. Luke's Weight Management Center - Allentown and are affiliated with St. Luke's Hospital-Bethlehem Campus and St Luke's Hospital-Monroe Campus. Dr. El Chaar has experience treating conditions like Diaphragmatic and Hiatal Hernia among other conditions at varying frequencies. I am Professor of Digital Health Care in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford, and a NIHR Senior Investigator. I am Theme Lead for the Applied Digital Health Theme in the NIHR Oxford & Thames Valley Applied Research Collaboration. My research seeks to understand and harness the tools and practices of the digital age to improve health and health care, and more broadly examine the area of innovation in health services. I have >130 publications with >17000 citations and an H-index of 56. I have been lead investigator on a range of interdisciplinary projects studying digital technologies in health care, including randomised controlled trials, evidence syntheses, cross-sectional surveys, interview studies, ethnographic case studies, and ‘big data’ analyses of datasets. I lead the Masters in Applied Digital Health at the University of Oxford. I have worked in national policy roles in the UK: as national Clinical Director of NHS Choices, the NHS website; and as a senior public health consultant at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for over 10 years, developing national policy on digital health, medical technology and interventional procedures.

Dr. Jasim Alabbad is the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Mubarak AL Kabeer hospital and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University. He is the Chair of examination committee for the surgical foundation program and co-chair for general surgery residency examination committee.
He attended medical school at Kuwait University and trained in general surgery at McGill University in Canada. He pursed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery training at The Spectrum Health/Michigan State University in USA.
Dr. Alabbad’s clinical interest includes inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer. His research and academic work focus in clinical outcomes of both benign and malignant colorectal disorders and medical education.

Dr. Takla, a board-certified surgeon with expertise in minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic techniques. Specializing in bariatrics, hernia repairs, and abdominal procedures, he is dedicated to delivering surgical excellence and personalized care. Dr. Takla has completed over 1,600 robotic procedures and 500+ weight loss surgeries.
Dr. Takla is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Recently awarded the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Focused Practice Designation (DABS-FPMBS), he combines precision and compassion to achieve life-changing outcomes for every patient.
Dr. Takla received his medical training from Cairo University Medical School in Egypt. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester and his fellowship in minimally invasive and robotic surgery at Banner -University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. He is fluent in English and Arabic.
